After Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom tooth extraction is a surgical procedure that requires post-operative care to prevent infection and complications. After surgery:
- Leave the gauze pad in place for at least 45 minutes, then discard it.
- Avoid using straws or rinsing the mouth to protect the blood clot.
- Rest and limit activities on the surgery day, resuming regular activities the next day.
- Follow the prescribed pain medication to manage discomfort after the anesthetic wears off.
- Do not drink through a straw to avoid disrupting sutures, as is advised with any oral surgery.
